Prime Minister The Rt. Hon. Philip Davis has deemed the month of June World Environment Month for the Bahamas. World Environment Day is recognized annually, and this year was observed on June 11, 2022.

The Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources’ Department of Environmental Health Services (DEHS), commemorated World Environment Day with a FUN-RUN WALK on June 11, 2022. The walk commenced and concluded at Goodman’s Bay.

DEHS’ Director Melony McKenzie said that the Fun-Run Walk was one of this month’s activities which was aimed to highlight the environment and to inspire us to live sustainably with the environment. She said that the walk was not about competition but to encourage being one with nature.

The event was supported by the general public, DEHS staff, Public Hospital Authority’s Staff and others.

Other activities scheduled for the month of June are the Blue Hole Clean-Up at R. M. Bailey Park, a Beach Clean-Up, Farms and Landfill visits that are aimed to encourage sustainable living in the Bahamas.
