Permanent Secretary Poitier, Ministry Officers, Meet Consul General Major in New York

NEW YORK CITY, New York -- Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture Eugene Poitier paid a courtesy call on Consul General of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas in New York, Leroy F. Major, on May 25, 2022, at the Bahamas Consulate General, at Bahamas House New York.  Visiting with Permanent Secretary Poitier were Assistant Director of Culture Portia Sands; Senior Cultural Affairs Officer and Organizing Secretary of the E. Clement Bethel National Arts Festival Sonovia Pierre; Administrative Associate Anja Bowe; and Jack Hayward Junior High School Music teacher and E. Clement Bethel National Arts Festival participating teacher Ms. Erica Weir.  The Consulate's Vice Consul and Head of Chancery Ms. Sherry Johnson Deal and Executive Administrative Assistant Mrs. Vernal Thomas Witherspoon also attended the courtesy call, and First Secretary and Head of Chancery for the Permanent Mission of The Bahamas to the United Nations Ms. Charmaine Williams joined in welcoming the group to Bahamas House.  The group were in New York with the members of the Bahamas National Youth Choir and a number of teachers who took part in the E. Clement Bethel National Arts Festival, who were singing in ensembles at Carnegie Hall, on May 27.
