Dear all,
Welcome to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions' website! It's my hope that this site will help to better connect you with the Office.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is established as an independent authority under Article 78A of the Constitution of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas. It is mandated to conduct and control criminal prosecutions in The Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
Our vision is to become a world class premier prosecution authority; providing the best prosecutorial service and the best experience. The mission of the ODPP, guided by the Constitution, is to ensure excellence in delivering efficient and effective prosecutorial services, while upholding the values and rights enshrined in the Constitution. The ODPP is a key partner in the criminal justice system, and plays a critical role in ensuring that perpetrators of crime are charged and duly held responsible for their criminal actions.
Whereas, the core mandate of the ODPP will remain prosecutions and being “Ministers of Justice” of the people, our holistic strategy seeks to ensure that the organization is more proactive, so as to contribute directly or indirectly to the social development of The Bahamas.
To all our partners and esteemed clients I invite you to take some time and learn how the ODPP functions.
Our accountability to the public is of paramount importance, and we feel privileged to play a role in making our justice system even stronger for posterity.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Director of Public Prosecutions.
“Forward Upward, Onward Together”
Garvin Gaskin
