'World Heritage Day' Celebrated with Planting of Lignum Vitae at Clifton Heritage National Park

NASSAU, The Bahamas -- Wife of the Prime Minister, Mrs. Ann Marie Davis, planted a Lignum Vitae tree at Clifton Heritage National Park in commemoration of ‘World Heritage Day' during a ceremony held at the park in southwestern New Providence on April 27, 2022.

 

 Youth of neighbouring community schools participated, including students of Gambier Primary School, Adelaide Primary School, and Lyford Cay International School. 

 

Following the Tree Planting there was a guided tour of the unique Clifton Heritage National Park by Tour Guide, Vernita Pratt.

 

Chairman of Clifton Heritage Authority, Christopher Saunders delivered opening remarks.  Secretary-General of UNESCO, Desiree Bevans delivered the keynote address and Dr. Lisa Lawlor Fuller, PhD., gave a historical overview on ‘The Significance of Clifton.’

 

Deputy Chairman of Clifton Heritage Authority, Larry Williams served as Master of Ceremonies; and the Urban Renewal Band provided musical entertainment.   (BIS Photos/Mark Ford)
