NASSAU, The Bahamas – The Hon. Pia Glover-Rolle Minister of State for the Public Service, expressed appreciation to public servants for their work and participation in the 2022 National Public Service Week (NPSW) as she presented awards to winners of the Careers Day Fair and Float Parade competitions for NPSW.

“For every Ministry which participates, every team member especially our committees that did the work on top of the work that you do on a daily basis, we’re so grateful to you. Nothing can happen in the Public Service, even NPSW without you our public servants.

“The consistent work that you do, the sacrifices you make and how brilliant you are. We are bringing “sexy” back to the public service where public service will again be the crème de la creme of careers in our country. I want to make sure the country understands how excellent you are and this is only a testament of it. The coming together of ministries and the ability to show the nation how powerful the public service is,” said Minister Glover-Rolle.

A brief awards ceremony was held at the Ministry of the Public Service, Monday, November 21 to recognize the winners of the competitions and the NPSW Planning Committee. Also present were the Hon. Michael Darville, Minister of Health and Wellness and Colin Higgs, Phedra Neymour-Turnquest and Gina Thompson, permanent secretaries, members of the planning committee and representatives of various ministries.

Minister Glover-Rolle said the 2022 NPSW reignited a spirit of camaraderie in public servants and a spirit of competitiveness in each Ministry.

“The energy is here, the excitement is here. I don’t want it to be only during NPSW. We want to have this energy continue throughout the course of the year as we lead up to the next public service week which is promising to be extremely competitive.”

Minister Glover-Rolle informed that she received comments from persons indicating that they viewed the Float Parade and were not aware of the amount of ministries and departments the Public Service encompasses.
To this she replied, “That is why we did it to show the nation and the young people what the public service strength looks like and to encourage them to be a part.

“I thank you for the work that you did to make NPSW exceptional.  I am really excited at what it would be in our 50th year in 2023,” she added.
