Customs Assistant Comptroller Cloretta Gomez

NASSAU, The Bahamas--The Bahamas Customs and Excise Department will commemorate its 109th year of establishment within the Commonwealth of The Bahamas during the month of March, said Cloretta Gomez, assistant comptroller of Customs and committee anniversary coordinator, at a press conference at Customs headquarters, March 8, 2023.

To celebrate the occasion, she said, the Customs Department has planned several events during the month of March, namely:

Tuesday, March 21 -- anniversary date, recognized with a T-shirt day.  Every Friday after during the month the staff will be allowed to wear the commemorative T-shirts at various stations. There will also be free breakfast provided for the staff and external stakeholders, compliments of the Customs Department.

Sunday, March 26 -- a church service will be held at the East Street Tabernacle of Church of God of Prophecy at 11:00 am. The Customs Department will join Bishop Hulan Hanna and the congregation of the Church of God of Prophecy, East Street, in their Divine Worship Service.  The Church service will be followed by a special luncheon at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall, Boyd Road where staff and guests are all invited.  Retirees will be honoured at this time.

Monday, March 27 -- the Bahamas Customs Department will distribute groceries and supplies to various senior citizen homes throughout New Providence.

The Bahamas Customs Department has also adopted T. A. Thompson Junior High School.  Upon request made by the school’s administration, the Department will donate picnic benches to the school for the students.
