Plans for Majority Rule Day Celebrations in Grand Bahama

FREEPORT, Grand Bahama, The Bahamas -- A press conference was held on Friday, January 6, 2023 to announce the planned celebrations for Majority Rule Day, January 10, in Grand Bahama.  Activities begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday with a march of students, uniformed organizations, and marching bands departing Christ The King Church for downtown Freeport, where events will take place.

 

Celebrations will comprise performances by the Bahamas Brass Band, Legends Marching Band, Pastor Simeon Outten, The Core, Sounds of Destiny, The Cooling Waters, and the Royal Bahamas Police Force Pop Band.
Festivities conclude with a Junkanoo Rushout by New Year’s Day Junkanoo Parade winners, Platinum Knights.

 

Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Ginger Moxey encouraged all to come out and participate.

 

The holiday honours the achievement of Majority Rule in The Bahamas on January 10, 1967.
