NASSAU, The Bahamas – The Hon. Vaughn Miller, Minister of the Environment and Natural Resources, joined students and teachers on Wonder of the Seas, Royal Caribbean Group’s newest cruise ship, December 5, 2022 for STEM for Oceans program.

Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) Global Conversations Development Centre and Royal Caribbean hosted 80 elementary, junior and senior high school students to learn about opportunities in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). Other government officials including the Hon. Zane Lightbourne, Minister of State for Education and teachers were also on board the ship.

Minister Miller expressed appreciation to the stakeholders for helping to educate students particularly in the sciences.

Royal Caribbean Group has partnered with PADF for nearly 20 years to support destinations as part of its Blue Green Promise to protect, inspire and empower sustainable ocean communities. PADF works with communities in Latin America and the Caribbean to make the region stronger for current and future generations.

Along with The Caribbean Science Foundation, the group recently established a "STEM for Oceans" camp in The Bahamas and Haiti to enhance local curriculums with regional ocean conservation topics. During the camps, students ages 5-18 participate in STEM activities. The program caters to vulnerable populations including disabled youth, teen student mothers and youth arm of The Bahamas AIDS Foundation.
