The COVID-19 vaccination response began on Wednesday 17 March following a pilot on Sunday 14 March at Loyola Hall, south-central region of New Providence.

Vaccinations continued at Loyola Hall, Gladstone Road, the Princess Margaret Hospital, Doctors Hospital and the Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre throughout the week on New Providence.

This week there will be additional sites opening for COVID19 vaccinations.

Additional medical and logistical support have been deployed to Grand Bahama to ensure a swift and efficient rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine on that island at the Susan J. Wallace Community Center and the Rand Memorial Hospital, starting Monday 22 March.

New vaccination centers on New Providence to open this week include the Church of God of Prophecy, East Street, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Base, for the uniformed branches, and Lyford Cay Hospital.

Those eligible to receive the vaccine in this first round of vaccinations include healthcare workers, persons 65 years of age and over, residents and staff of eldercare homes and staff of the uniformed branches, starting with the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.

A vaccination appointment center for residents without access to the internet or a device will be set up at the East Street vaccination site.

The East Street vaccination site on New Providence is scheduled to open on Friday 26 March. Appointments for that site will open on Tuesday 23 March, including online booking information.

This week, Mobile Units will also begin administering vaccines to residents and staff of eldercare homes and the non-ambulatory on New Providence and Grand Bahama

Starting Wednesday 24 March, a record of vaccinations administered will be published weekly.
