Parliamentarians Open the New Year In Worship

NASSAU, The Bahamas – Members of Parliament, along with senior government officials, gathered at Grants Town Wesley Methodist Church for a religious service to celebrate the New Year. The ceremonies were held on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 under the theme, ‘Moving from Good to Great.’

 

Speaker of the House of Assembly, the Hon. D. Halson Moultrie, read a passage from the Old Testament.  Vice-President of the Senate, the Hon. Mildred Hall-Watson, read a passage from the New Testament.

 

Apostle Delton Fernander, President of the Bahamas Christian Council, delivered the Sermon, which focused on the life of Nehemiah.  He urged the parliamentarians to fashion their lives to build their country, as Nehemiah did in rebuilding Jerusalem.  Liturgist, Rev. Dr. Irene Russell delivered the Invocation.

 

Several pastors offered prayers for the parliamentarians, including: Apostle Phalmon Ferguson, Senior Pastor, United Faith Ministries International; Pastor Dave Burrows, Senior Pastor, Bahamas Faith Ministries International; Bishop Simeon B. Hall, Past President of Bahamas Christian Council; and Reverend Dr. Roslyn Astwood, Administrative Assistant, Bahamas Christian Council.
