The Prime Minister Receives Donation and Tours National Response Facility at SuperClubs Breezes

NASSAU, The Bahamas – Prime Minister the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis and Minister of Health the Hon. Renward Wells accepted donations on behalf of the Bahamian people from SuperClubs Breezes, and GraceKennedy Money Services the Master Agent for Western Union along with Grace Foods at the resort, Thursday, August 27, 2020.

 

Presenting toiletries and clothes on behalf of SuperClubs Breezes was the resort’s Managing Director, Muna Issa.  GraceKennedy Money Services and Grace Foods partnered together to donate the food goods.  Operations & Business Development Manager/GraceKennedy Money Services, Lovy Jean presented the goods for both organizations.  

 

After accepting the donations, the Prime Minister and Minister Wells toured SuperClubs Breezes, which has been identified as a National Response Facility to accommodate mild to moderate patients under investigation for COVID-19.  There are approximately 60 beds for the patients.

 

Chief of Services, Accident and Emergency Department, Dr. Christa Wells described the various rooms in the facility to the Prime Minister and the Health Minister.

 

During his National Address on August 9, the Prime Minister stated that SuperClubs Breezes will accommodate both the employees that are attending the patients on one floor, and clinical and management operations on other floors.

 

He noted that security services will be provided by the Royal Bahamas Defense Force, supplemented by a Public Hospitals Authority contracted security firm.

 

The Prime Minister said, “On behalf of the Government and people of The Bahamas, I thank Breezes for the role it has played as a corporate citizen during this pandemic.”

 

He added that the Government has been asked to cover only utility costs during the use of the hotel as the new national response facility.
