NASSAU, The Bahamas – Minister of Health the Hon. Renward Wells visited Princess Margaret Hospital, where health care workers were being administered the AstraZeneca vaccine as the country continued its official rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) began offering the vaccine to its employees and members of the National Emergency Medical Services (NEMS) earlier today, Wednesday, 17th March 2021.  The PMH is designated one of the vaccination sites offering inoculations for health workers in New Providence.

The vaccines are from the batch of 20,000 AstraZeneca vaccines – also known as Covishield -- which The Bahamas received from the Government of India on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.

The vaccines were pre-qualified by the WHO and received Emergency Use Listing (EUL) approval by the WHO. The vaccines have also received certification from the Caribbean Regulatory System (CRS).   (BIS Photos/Patrick Hanna)
