NASSAU, The Bahamas -- The Ministry of Agriculture & Marine Resources held the official opening of its annual Agri-Business Expo at the Gladstone Road Farmer's Market site on Friday, April 4, 2025. The event, featuring multiple aspects of agricultural enterprise, both educational and fun, spanned the weekend of April 4-6. Agriculture and Marine Resources's immediate goal is to reduce the food import bill by 25 percent: the theme of the expo was 'Food Security is Our Priority.' In attendance was Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism Investments & Aviation, the Hon. Chester Cooper, Minister of Agriculture & Marine Resources, the Hon. Jomo Campbell, Charge d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Zhang Hongliang, FAO Representative to The Bahamas, Belize and Jamaica Dr. Ana Touza, and other senior government officials. Entertainment was provided by school students -- C.R. Walker Pop Band, Gerald Cash Rake and Scrape Ensemble, and a Junkanoo Rush out by Carlton E. Francis Primary School. (BIS Photos/Patrice Johnson)
