The local anti-money laundering laws require that all financial institutions in The Bahamas develop policies and procedures for anti-money laundering staff training and ensure that all staff are exposed to such training at least once annually.

The Compliance Commission conducts anti-money laundering training. The primary purpose of such training is to ensure that all participants are taught how to detect and prevent money laundering.

Eligibility

All financial institutions supervised by the Compliance Commission are given priority for training.  Additionally, training workshops are mandatory for all accounting firms wishing to perform on-site examinations as agents of the Compliance Commission.  Training is also extended to other organizations as deemed appropriate by the Compliance Commission.

Process
  1. All requests for training must be made to the Compliance Commission in writing.
  2. The Compliance Commission will respond in writing with its consent (or otherwise) based on staff availability.
  3. It is useful to state in the letter the type of training being requested, that is a general session or a presentation which addresses specific issue(s), etc.
