About the KAP Survey

Between October 3 and 28, the Ministry of Health & Wellness (MoHW) will encourage persons 18 years and over to participate in the first national knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) survey. This survey has been developed by our Climate Change and Health Project Team in conjunction with the University of The Bahamas and the Anchor Group.

It has also been reviewed by the Medical Research Oversight Committee to ensure that the country is able to publish its climate change research internationally. This survey will give insight into what healthcare providers need to do to begin to help equip Bahamians to be more aware and capable of addressing the growing issues of Climate Change and Health in the country.

The survey will be conducted in two phases. The first phase, which will run from October 3 – 14, will only include all healthcare providers and civil society. All health professionals are asked to participate through their professional councils. Civil society persons are asked to respond to their agencies’ calls to participate.

The survey’s second phase – October 15-18 – will be available to the general public. A special thank you is extended to our partners, Cable Bahamas and BTC for recognizing the importance of this national work in Climate Change. Both companies have agreed to send out text messages to all their customers to participate in the KAP Survey.

The MoHW has a goal of getting 100,000 persons to complete the survey.

In order for the MoHW to respond adequately to the impacts of climate change, we need your feedback through the KAP Survey.

The information gleaned from Bahamian citizens and residents over the next month will assist in furthering the Ministry's work to help develop a Climate and Health-resilient Bahamas that we can all be proud of.
