All citizens and businesses can open a savings account at the Bahamas Post Offices. The Savings bank at the Post Office is a thrift bank as opposed to a Commercial Bank.

• The applicant must be 12 years or older.
• Children under 12 years of age must have a Trustee.

1. Visit the Post Office.
2. Complete the following forms
   a. Depositor’s Book.
   b. Post Office Savings Bank Personal Information Update Form.
3. Submit completed application forms along with relevant supporting documents.
4. Deposit at least BS$3.00 to the account.
5. The Clerk at the Bank will issue a Pass Book to the Applicant.
6. Know your Customer Compliance Form.

The timeframe varies depending on the location where the service is offered: • Ten to fifteen minutes at the General Post Office in Nassau • Two to three working days at the Sub Offices • Three to four weeks at the Family Island Sub Offices There are no deadlines associated with this service.
